Who would have thought flying, whether for business or pleasure, was risky? The potential for "exhaust" (bleed-air) gases to contaminate the air passengers breathe in airplane cabins is largely unknown to the public. Passengers are more likely to have heard of or experienced the spraying of insecticides in the cabin which exposes crew and passengers to chemical and toxic fumes.
Fume events on aircraft can be dangerous and pose serious health risks, especially for exposed crew over the long term.

The health concerns that can arise from exposure to such toxic fumes are covered in this substantial body of material, with a focus on flight crews and frequent flyers. The aviation industry claims that these  harmful engine "exhaust" fumes that seep into the cabin air are not harmful. They also insist that the mist from the insecticides they spray are no danger to humans' health.
We have known that chemicals top the list of deadly follies that industry has unleashed on the world since the book "Silent Spring" (1962 - Rachel Carson) documented how DDT, a powerful pesticide, was responsible for reproductive disorders in birds and cancer in humans. Insecticide sprays are also used in airplane cabins and are again considered by the industry to be harmless to humans. Have you ever noticed the connection between words like homicide, herbicide, pesticide, fungicide, and many more descriptive words ending with cide? Their meanings are linked. The –cide ending originates from the Latin word caedere meaning ‘to kill’ thus they all have to do with death, destruction, extermination, and intentional killing.
The goal of this website is to serve as a resource for education. It provides the most comprehensive collection of data, including interviews, documentaries, scientific resources, medical and laboratory protocols, and crew testimonies, regarding the lack of aviation regulations and the industry's pitiful attempts to improve aircraft cabin air quality in order to protect passengers and crew.

With the publication of numerous articles and books, including 'The Air I Breathe - It's Classified' (2016), 'Höhenluft' (2017) in German, and 'Tomb In The Sky-Aviation's Wounded Canaries' (2019), Bearnairdine Beaumont has addressed this challenging topic in the fields of science, technology, and medical health over the years. Her body of work helps to keep the industry on their toes. She has also been publishing articles on Substack and together with Trudie Dadd on Trudie's petition website, since early 2021.

Initially, Bearnairdine founded the "International Network Aerotoxic Team" in 2013 - when she withdrew from active campaigning she renamed the website to UNFILTERED in 2020. Bearnairdine has been interviewed on the subject ever since making her public debut in 1997. She has taken part in talk shows, media interviews, and a number of documentaries on TV and film that international media have covered. She has contributed to unraveling the various layers of historical and contemporary influences and dynamics inside the aviation industry regarding its nonexistent approach to cabin air quality by developing an international network and persistently advocating.

In 2008, after many years of gradually declining health, I flew back from Cape Town, on what turned out to be my last flight ever as a Cabin Service Director for British Airways. A few weeks later I heard the term ‘Aerotoxic Syndrome’ for the first time. A newspaper article said that organophosphates present in aircraft engine oil were contaminating the breathing air inside passenger cabins.
