It was a bright, frosty morning when I arrived at my destination. The pavement to the doctor's oce glistened like a carpet of diamonds in the early morning sunshine. I had to stop every other step, breathless, heart racing, my legs weak and threatening to give in. Nevertheless, I was determined not to take the elevator, and pulled myself up along the banister...
